Title: Clinical efficacy of a new detox products for nutrition in patients with covid-19
The aim of the study was to analyze the effectiveness and safety of the new dietary Detox products (LEOVIT Nutrio Ltd, Russian Federation) for nutritional support of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 as well as for patients with long-Covid-19 symptoms. The studied Detox dietary products “Kissel (Jelly) LEOVIT” and “LEOVIT Detox” consist of biologically active components of natural plants and other sources with high detoxicifying, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunoactive properties. The hospitalized group enrolled 140 patients (aged from 19 to 79 y.o) of both gender groups with moderate severity of the disease. Patients were randomized into two groups (70 patients in each group). The main group, along with a standard prescribed pharmacotherapy and diet, used both specialized dietetic products during 12-14 days of hospitalization. Patients with long-Covid symptoms (n=65) received the dietetic products about 60 days after the main course of treatment. It have been demonstrated that complex treatment with the use of dietary products resulted in improvement of the most of symptoms in the main hospitalized group comparing to the control group. The frequency of diarrhea among men decreased by 15% and among women up to 30%. The frequency of other symptoms, like weakness among men decreased up to 1/3 and among women by 60%. Clinical efficacy was accompanied by the improvement in biochemical parameters. It have been demonstrated a significant decrease in markers of inflammation (CRP, IL-6, TNF?), level of the liver detoxifying enzymes (ALT and AST). In patients with long-Covid symptoms we demonstrated the faster recovery of the main long-Covid symptoms (fatigue, weakness, reduced physical activity, etc.). Due to the very long duration of post-Covid symptoms, we recommend a longer intake of studied Detox products for at least 3-6 months for the faster and more effective recovery of the patients.
