Title: Testing of Achillea millefolium extract of thousand leaves as an immununostimulant in mice

Abstract

The main active compound of achillea millefolium is ascorbic acid, tocopherol, and rich in flavonoids, apigenin, quercetin and also phenolic acids which is thought to have an immunostimulant effect. This research aimed to evaluate the immunostimulant effect of the ethanol extract of the achillea millefolium L using carbon clearance methods. The animal models used ware albino mice male which ware didived into 5 groups. Groups I as negative control (NaCMC 0,5%), group II, III, IV ware given ethanol extract of Achillea millefolium L leavest at a dose of 10 mg/kgbw, 50 mg/kgbw, 100 mg/kgbw and groups V as the positive control (stimuno forte). The dosage is given orally in a single dose for 6 days. The result showed the administration of test reparation with a dose of 10 mg/kgbw, 50 mg/kgbw, 100 mg/kgbw showed the phagocytosis constant value ware significantly different from negative control (P<0,05). Phagocytosis indices from test preparations with a dose of 10 mg/kgbw, 50 mg/kgbw, 100 mg/kgbw also show values greater than 1. It was concluded tht the ethanol extract of Achillea millefolium L leaves at d dose of 10 mg/kgbw, 50 mg/kgbw, 100 mg/kgbw is an immunostimulant.
